A centralized STEM CELL CORE FACILITY is now being established, with support of Helmsley Foundation, to serve as a key resource to the Columbia Stem Cell Initiative (CSCI) and the broader community of investigators. The Core will be located in Black Building 1109, and is expected to be up and running by the end of October. The Core will meet multiple needs of our stem cell research community across both campuses of Columbia University: (i) cell production, (ii) materials and supplies at discounted prices, (iii) standardized protocols for cell maintenance, expansion and differentiation, (iv) generation of genetically modified cells and reporter lines, (v) functional studies of stem cells and their derivatives, in vitro and in vivo, (vi) training in methods for cell culture and functional evaluation, and (vii) workshops, seminars and collaborative research. We envision the Core as a central node in the existing network of CSCI resources.
Please contact the scientific directors Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic (gv2131) and Hans Snoeck (hs2680) with any suggestions and questions about the Core operation.
