P&S Faculty, Alumnus Honored with Awards at Columbia Commencement

Congratulations to the following P&S faculty for being recognized by the university at commencement this year.

Jonathan Barasch

Jonathan Barasch, MD, PhD

Jonathan Barasch, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Pathology and Cell Biology; and John C.M. Brust, MD, Professor of Clinical Neurology, have each received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching, awarded to current Columbia faculty who have had a significant influence on the intellectual development of students at the university. These awards recognize teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

David P. Roye

David P. Roye Jr., MD

David P. Roye Jr., MD, St. Giles Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, Director of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York, and a graduate of the P&S Class of 1975, has been selected as an Alumni Medalist. Alumni Medalists are alumni of Columbia University selected to receive this high honor for their distinguished service of ten years or more to the university: including its schools, alumni associations, regional Columbia Clubs, and university-wide initiatives. The medal was first awarded by Columbia in 1933.
