David Brenner, PhD, director of the Center for Radiological Research, has been selected by the Radiation Research Society Awards and Honors Committee as this year's recipient of the Failla Award, in recognition of his distinguished contributions to radiation research. The Failla Lectureship was established by the 29th RRS Council to honor Dr. Gioacchino Failla and was first given in 1963.
The award will be presented at the 14th international Congress of Radiation Research in Warsaw, Poland, which takes place Aug. 28-Sept. 1, 2011.
Dr. Gioacchino Failla founded the radiological research laboratory at P&S in 1915. Dr. Brenner's predecessor as center director, Eric Hall, D.Phil, received the Failla Award in 1992.
