P&S provides a supportive and collaborative environment for its students, not only offering extensive advising, but also dynamic and diverse social activities. This energetic, active, and comprehensive atmosphere contributes to overall student success at the school.
The P&S Club is the most comprehensive student activities organization in American medical education. Founded by Nobel Peace Laureate John R. Mott in 1894, the Club currently sponsors over 70 extracurricular organizations. These organizations represent P&S students' vast interests and talents, including athletics, the performing arts, student advocacy, and community service. The Club's fluid nature allows new activities to arise as students' interests evolve. By providing P&S students with outlets for their various talents, the P&S Club adds substantial depth to a program otherwise devoted to scientific and clinical disciplines.
P&S CLASS COUNCIL
There is also an active Student Government made up of Class Council Officers who serve as the voice of the students and representatives for their class. The Class Council is the governing body of the students of P&S, which exists to develop, facilitate, and promote student missions at P&S and to represent student interests to the P&S administration. The Class Council collaborates with other organizations at P&S, at Columbia University, and outside of the University to enhance communication and build partnerships.
OFFICE OF MEDICAL EDUCATION
In addition, within the Office of Medical Education, both the Student Affairs Office and the Office of Diversity have multiple resources for students throughout their four years at P&S.
CUMC CAMPUS RESOURCES
The school’s location in the vibrant and diverse Washington Heights/Inwood neighborhood offers educational and enjoyable diversions, adding to students’ overall educational journey. Recreation and athletic facilities, a meal plan, and campus housing as well as tailored advising and peer mentors establish a firm foundation for students to prosper, grow, and succeed, building a cohesive and close community.
