Student Mental Health

Mental Health Services (MHS) at CUMC is staffed by psychologists, social workers and psychiatrists experienced in the issues arising for students in the course of their professional training.
MHS offer a consultation service that provides assessment, short-term psychotherapy, psychopharmacotherapy, and referrals for ongoing treatment, as is clinically appropriate.  As part of the Student Health Service (SHS) fee, students are eligible for up to 10 Mental Health Services (MHS) visits annually without charge.  Appointments are scheduled promptly to accommodate academic, laboratory and work schedules.
Treatment modalities include short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy, pharmacotherapy, and group therapy and can target a wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and substance abuse.  In some instances, MHS can also provide couples counseling.

Contact with, and visits to, MHS are confidential, except in those rare instances of imminent risk of harm to self or others, or where otherwise required by law
